Ozone is, above all, a story of friendship. Étienne Gounot and Eric Jähnke met at 25 years old and six years later, in 2000, founded Ozone in Paris. 'Alliant magie, architecture et technologie, la lumière était leur inspiration' — 'Combining magic, architecture and technology, light was their inspiration.'

Both founders are former industrial engineers, a background that informs their technically sophisticated approach to lighting. 'Their concept is based on close collaboration with architects and private individuals to find the perfect lighting.'

Designboom featured them in a 2025 interview with the headline: 'Light is at the service of architecture.' AD Magazin described their work with paper, wood, marble, metal, and crystal glass — noting they have given the immaterial a 'technisch ausgeklügelte Form' (technically sophisticated form). All products are designed and handmade in Paris.
