MMairo was founded in 2016 in Carrara — the Tuscan city nestled in the Apuan Alps that has been the world capital of marble for centuries. The brand's name is itself a declaration of intent: it derives from the ancient Greek verb marmairo, meaning "to shine" — a direct homage to marble, the material that is its medium, its philosophy and its identity. From the outset, MMairo positioned itself not as a manufacturer, but as a curator — overseeing the quarrying and processing of marble at its source, building relationships with local artisans over shared dust and sunsets, and transforming this pure gift of nature into objects of contemporary design.
