About

Founded in 1988 by Mehmet and Dimonah Iksel, Iksel Decorative Arts is a London-based atelier that has spent over three decades hand-painting panoramic wall coverings inspired by the decorative traditions of a pre-industrial world. The couple established their studio in India, assembling large teams of painters to create designs that draw on architectural, botanical, ornamental and scenic motifs spanning many cultures and periods — from Chinese export wallpapers and Ottoman ornament to European chinoiserie and Indian miniatures.

Each Iksel design begins as an original painting, meticulously executed in the studio before being digitised in high definition for reproduction at virtually any scale. The firm's collections have adorned the interiors of private residences, yachts, hotels and embassies around the world, earning a devoted following among leading interior designers and architects.

With a showroom on Rue Bonaparte in Paris and representation through a global network of agents, Iksel has become a reference for bespoke scenic wallcoverings. The company's archive represents, by its own calculation, more than one painter's entire lifetime of continuous work — a testament to the extraordinary depth and breadth of a catalogue that continues to grow.
