French designer Éric Schmitt believes that 'a piece of furniture needs to exude silence so it can be loved for a long time.' Rather than explaining his work, he prefers to let his objects speak for themselves. His sculptural forms—from the graceful arch of a marble cabinet to the enduring silhouette of a Jarre table—echo the Romanesque churches and medieval architecture of his native Burgundy region.
