Contemporary rugs, textiles, hand-knotted carpets
Founded in Milan in 2011 by Nelcya Chamszadeh and Fabrizio Cantoni, cc-tapis is an Italian rug company that has helped redefine the contemporary carpet as a collectible design object. Nelcya grew up surrounded by textiles — her father ran Maison Chamszadeh, a renowned rug shop in Strasbourg — while Fabrizio brought an entrepreneurial sensibility honed in the worlds of fashion and design.
Every cc-tapis rug is hand-knotted by artisans in Nepal using Himalayan wool, silk and hemp, with a palette drawn from over 1,200 proprietary colours. The company deliberately distances itself from mass production: each piece requires months of skilled handwork, and no two carpets are identical. This commitment to craft has attracted collaborations with some of the most celebrated names in contemporary design — from Patricia Urquiola, India Mahdavi and Faye Toogood to Muller Van Severen, Bethan Laura Wood and Maison Matisse.
From its headquarters in the Brera district, cc-tapis has built a global presence through leading design fairs and a network of showrooms and retailers. The company was recognised with the Wallpaper* Design Award and has become a fixture of the most discerning residential and hospitality interiors worldwide.
