About

Autoban is an internationally renowned, Istanbul-based multidisciplinary design studio founded in 2003 by Seyhan Özdemir and Sefer Çağlar. Working across architecture, interiors, product and experiential design, the studio has forged a reputation for thoughtfulness, experimentation and craftsmanship — and played a significant role in Istanbul's emergence as an international cultural destination in the early 2000s.

Özdemir and Çağlar met while studying interior architecture at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts in Istanbul. After graduating, both gained experience abroad — Özdemir in London, Çağlar in New York — before returning to Istanbul with a shared conviction that Turkish design could occupy a distinctive place on the international stage. The name 'Autoban' references the highway: open, directional and without borders.
