About

Laura Demichelis was born and raised in Provence, in the south of France. She trained at the prestigious École Boulle in Paris, specialising in bronze craftsmanship. Her graduation piece, ‘Dérive,’ won first place in the Prix Avenir Métiers d’Art, awarded by the Institut National des Métiers d’Art (INMA) to exceptionally talented young craftspeople. The piece was noted for its originality and mastery of wood and bronze turning techniques.

After graduating, Demichelis spent several years working in the atelier of the celebrated designer Hervé Van der Straeten in Paris — an experience that deeply informed her understanding of how sculpture can inhabit functional objects. She then travelled to Asia to study various bronze traditions, a journey that revealed the endless creative possibilities inherent in the material.
