Rugs & Tapestry
The first references to the name Pinton can be found in the Aubusson weaver censuses of the early 16th century. However, the traceable history of the Pinton family begins at the end of the 18th century, one hundred years after Colbert granted the title of Royal Manufactory to Aubusson tapestry makers.
Founded formally in 1867, Ateliers Pinton is a family-run tapestry and rug manufacture based in Felletin, in the Creuse region of France. The atelier continues the Aubusson tradition — a craft so significant that the term "aubusson" has become a common noun since the 19th century, and the weaving tradition was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2009.
Gathered under one roof, Pinton's weavers, designers, tufters, and teams are driven by the belief that beauty is useful. The manufacture has collaborated with artists and designers across centuries, from historical tapestry commissions to contemporary partnerships with creators such as Nicolas Aubagnac, bringing ancient hand-weaving techniques into dialogue with modern design sensibility.
