Founded in 1935 by its namesake, Pierre Frey SA is a family-owned French house of fabrics, wallpapers, carpets and furniture that has become one of the last great independent textile maisons in Paris. Pierre Frey (1903–2002) began his career as a furniture polisher before moving into the fabric trade, eventually striking out on his own with a small collection of furnishing textiles that combined bold pattern with refined French taste.
The house expanded under the stewardship of his son Patrick, who joined in 1960 and was instrumental in acquiring several storied French textile brands — among them Braquenié (founded 1823), Le Manach and Boussac — thereby assembling an unrivalled archive of more than 60,000 documents spanning three centuries of French decorative history. Today the company is led by the third generation: Patrick's sons Pierre, Vincent and Matthieu.
Maison Pierre Frey is distinguished by its signature eclecticism, moving freely between exotic jungle prints, rigorous geometric weaves and faithful reproductions of eighteenth-century toiles. The collections are woven in their own atelier in the Picardy region and manufactured at partner mills across Europe and India. Their fabrics dress residences, palaces, yachts and luxury hotels worldwide, and the house maintains showrooms in Paris, London, New York, Miami and beyond.
